Cookie Dough Doughnuts?! This Favorite Chain Can Be Our Valentine

Dunkin' Donuts has some Valentine's Day offerings that seem too sweet to resist. We got our hands on each of the seasonal items — a white chocolate raspberry latte ($3 for a medium), a cookie dough doughnut ($2), and a brownie batter doughnut ($2) — to see if they taste as good as they sound.

We were very excited to try this beverage, especially as it was supposedly topped with Instagram-worthy, heart-shaped sprinkles. Unfortunately, the sprinkles melted on contact with the hot latte foam, leaving only sad pink and red whispers behind. We were overpowered by the sweetness of the drink on first tasting. The white chocolate flavor is delicious, but the artificial raspberry aftertaste is cloying — and just not an ideal match with Dunkin' Donuts' smooth, light brew. However, we believe that white chocolate raspberry would make an exceptional hot chocolate.

Upon cutting this doughnut in half, it appeared that there was not enough filling — but upon testing it, the real issue is with the dispersal of the cookie dough buttercream. Overall, the filling is balanced by the doughnut, its delicious chocolate icing, and the mini chocolate chip topping, but one fateful bite could lead to the consumption of all the filling at once. Should this happen to you, you will be surprised by how salty the cookie dough buttercream is. Though a challenge, spreading the filling more evenly throughout the doughnut would solve this issue. Additionally, we would have liked to see mini chocolate chips in the filling (like actual cookie dough)!

This doughnut is truly outstanding thanks to its rich (and plentiful!) chocolate filling. The brownie batter buttercream is basically a darker, gooier version of the icing on top, which is a double win in our minds. The heart-shaped sprinkles were not particularly tasty, but they were so pretty that we didn't care. This doughnut is for a true chocoholic, so be prepared.
