Armed with this simple tip, a tempting fruit crumble can be on your table virtually any night of the week. (We like to think of it as dinner party money in the bank.)

The next time you bake a fruit crumble, do your future self a favor and prep twice the amount of topping, saving half in a freezer-grade resealable plastic bag. Label the bag clearly with the contents (crumble topping) and date — for optimum freshness, use the crumble topping within six months — and pop it in the freezer. The next time a craving for a crumble hits, simply prep the fruit, sprinkle the frozen topping on top (no need to thaw it first), and bake per usual. It may take 2-3 minutes longer to cook, but otherwise, no changes to the recipe are needed.
