I just tried this exactly as written/pictured with fresh, ripe peaches, worked like a charm!!!

@Cindy3048650 Oh, I plunged into ice water alright. I'm not the only person with this problem, Cindy. This works with tomatoes. It does not work with peaches. Nothing to cry about. We just need to find a better way to skin this cat is all. Boiling and then ice water baths work great with tomatoes. Not so with peaches.

@billbird2111 This does work with June Pride, it looks like you forgot the "plunge into ice water" part.

@billbird2111: This does work with even June Pride. Apparently you forgot the 'plunge into ice water' part.

This is a lot easier if the peaches are ripe. Otherwise you may have to do it again, or use a peeler.

it should work for nectarines and plums, probably apricots, pluots (or aprums - the apricot/plum hybrid) as well. it also works for tomatoes, but you might want to make a small incision at the top with a knife to get it started. hope that helps!

Hmm, would this work for other fruits?

My mother showed me this trick once but I've never been able to make it work right for me. I guess I'll have to try it again!
