This Boozy Milkshake Party Combines 2 of Life's Greatest Pleasures

Milkshakes are great and all, but booze them up and suddenly you have an excuse for a party! At least that's what Hostess With the Mostess envisioned when she partnered with the California Milk Advisory Board for National Ice Cream Month (July) and National Ice Cream Day (July 19). From the decor details to the milkshake recipes, allow these vibrant photos to inspire your next Summer bridal shower or birthday party (if you're 21 and up, of course).

The Decor

The Decor

This party idea is inspired by Summer carnivals with the flag banners, bright colors, and black-striped tablecloth (reminiscent of vintage tents). The bright lantern signs (scoop, spike, shake) will help instruct guests to do it themselves!

Playful signs, paper confetti, and colorful straws go a long way.

Offer a few flavor combos so guests aren't stuck in a rut.

Keep the ice cream options simple (chocolate and vanilla). Storing them over ice will prevent them from melting too quickly.

Transfer spirits to colorful glass bottles. It's a sneaky way to conceal which brands you are serving.

Milkshake mixers can be on the pricy side if made from metal, but there are plenty of affordable options out there.

Cayenne and cinnamon make for great milkshake toppings.

As do rainbow candy coated chocolate chips, crushed Oreos, and marbits (Lucky Charms marshmallows). Be playful and showcase ingredients that are nostalgic and not often seen in ice cream parlours.

Can't go wrong with caramel and chocolate sauces, stored in mustard containers.
