This McDonald's Tests a Hilarious New Pickup Option That We All Need

The drive-through lanes at McDonald's are a crucial aspect of the whole operation; however, if you don't have a car, it can also be the bane of your existence on any given evening when the indoor restaurant isn't open to the public. Well — at long last — McDonald's might finally be introducing a walk-through option.

This news comes over a year after Taco Bell implemented a pickup window in certain urban locations. According to The Sun, a franchise location in Wales has opened a pedestrian-friendly lane between 2:30 a.m. and 4 a.m. and will continue to monitor its effectiveness and popularity. Unsurprisingly, the walk-through lane's premiere weekend went "extremely well," according to an employee who spoke to The Sun.

Of the new addition, a McDonald's spokesperson told The Sun, "The 'walk-thru' was a local initiative by the business manager of the restaurant to invite local residents to come and enjoy a meal at the restaurant after their night out at the newly reopened nightclub Broadway." So while the lane is hardly a global — or even nationwide — option at the moment, other locations might be inclined to adopt it later on based on its success. We're counting on you, Wales!
