ICYMI, Amazon Wants to Deliver Chipotle and Shake Shack

Amazon has teamed up with the mobile-ordering and pay platform Olo, which means you might be able to order from Chipotle and Shake Shack and have it delivered right to your door soon. According to a recent Bloomberg report, Amazon is tapping into big-name fast-food restaurant chains β€” like Five Guys and Wingstop β€” to join its Amazon Restaurants delivery service. The company already has the advantage of having Danny Meyer, the founder of Shake Shack, as an investor to the service, which first began operating in 2015.

This latest move comes after Amazon's controversial acquisition of Whole Foods for $13.7 billion in June. The newest partnership aims to "create a seamless ordering experience that will make it easier for restaurants to make delicious food fast," according to a statement released by Olo. The digital order-and-pay technology company already provides its services to 200 restaurant businesses with 40,000 US locations, which surely sounds like a win-win situation for both parties involved. Now let's just keep our fingers crossed that Chipotle and Shake Shack agree to make home deliveries a part of the future of fast-food service we can all get behind.
