Spicy Snack-Lovers, Check Your Pantry: Lay's Is Recalling These Jalapeño Chips

Check before you indulge your spicy snack craving! Frito-Lay has issued a voluntary recall for several types of jalapeño-flavored potato chips due to salmonella concerns, so take a quick peek inside your pantry if you like chips with a kick.

The two types of chips covered by this recall are Jalapeño Flavored Lay's Kettle Cooked potato chips and Jalapeño Flavored Miss Vickie's Kettle Cooked potato chips, and the recall affects all sizes (including the mini bags in multi-packs). Frito-Lay also specifies that the recall only includes chips that "have a 'guaranteed fresh' date of July 4 or prior printed on the front upper panel of the package."

In a statement about the recall, Frito-Lay explained:

"This action is the direct result of a supplier's recent recall of a seasoning blend which includes jalapeño powder that could contain Salmonella. Although no Salmonella was found in the seasoning supplied to Frito-Lay, the company has decided to recall these products out of an abundance of caution."

The company advises chip-lovers not to consume the affected product, and is working with retailers to remove the affected batches of chips from shelves. If you've purchased a product affected by the recall, simply visit this website for the reimbursement form.
