The Comeback Snacks: 9 Discontinued Foods Brought Back by Popular Demand

Perhaps the most depressing thing that could happen to your favorite food is a dreaded discontinuation. We all cried into a puddle of our own tears when Crispy M&M's and the McRib were ripped away from us. But do you know what makes the death of a beloved treat so much sweeter? When it's rereleased due to popular demand! Here are some snacks that we have recently been reunited with once again.

Surge
Coca-Cola Company

Surge

Remember this lemon-lime bright soda? The nostalgic drink created in 1996 was discontinued 11 years ago, but just this year Coca-Cola decided to bring the fizzy green beverage back. As of September 2014, it's available on Amazon. And as of September 2015, Surge is rolling out to store shelves, starting with the East Coast.

Crystal Pepsi

This clear cola was on shelves from 1992 through 1994, and has maintained a devoted fanbase since being discontinued. Pepsi recently contacted one of these hardcore Crystal Pepsi devotees and told him that he'll "be happy with what's in store," so you can expect to drink this refreshing soda again soon!

French Toast Crunch

French Toast Crunch

Introduced in late 1995, the sweet maple and cinnamon cereal shaped like the brunch staple finally came back after being discontinued in 2006. Dedicated fans of French Toast Crunch were totally disappointed that the cereal was no longer around so they created a Bring Back French Toast Crunch Facebook page. The thousands of people begging General Mills to bring the product back were finally heard; boxes have been back on shelves since December 2014.

Crispy M&M's

After being discontinued in 2005, the brand brought back the cookie-filled M&M's in January 2015 after a flood of requests from fans.

Yummy Mummy and Frute Brute Cereal

Yummy Mummy and Frute Brute Cereal

For the last two years, these classic monster cereals have joined their friends Franken Berry, Boo Berry, and Count Chocula on shelves during the Halloween season. Before its seasonal revival, Frute Brute had an eight-year run, but it was discontinued in 1982. Yummy Mummy was available from 1987 to 1992 before its comeback.

Double Down
KFC

Double Down

This wild mashup is bunless — two pieces of fried chicken hold together monterey and pepper jack cheeses as well as a few slices of bacon. The Double Down was launched as a limited time offer in 2010, popping up a couple times more for monthly appearances since its first arrival. The breadless sandwich most recently returned in April of 2014 for a limited time and has now been discontinued once again.

Twinkies

Twinkies

When the Hostess brand announced that it was going to liquidate and sell its products until it ran out, Americans totally freaked out. People raided supermarket shelves, and Twinkie enthusiasts were selling the product on eBay for staggering prices — one seller listed a box of Twinkies for $200,000. Luckily, the brand was saved by new owners, and we're still enjoying the cream-filled cakes.

McRib
McDonald's

McRib

One of McDonald's greatest wonders, the McRib is a boneless pork sandwich molded into the shape of a rack of ribs. It was introduced in 1981 but then discontinued in 1985. It was then brought back in 1994, only to be removed from the menu once more in 2005. It was brought back for a limited time in Fall 2014, and we have a feeling it'll make a reappearance on menus soon enough.

Chicken Fries

Chicken Fries

This customer favorite was dearly missed when the product was discontinued in 2012. When Burger King announced that it was bringing chicken fries back in August 2014, America rejoiced.
