The Most and Least Affordable Cities in America Will Surprise You

Wondering how affordable your city is? If you live in California, it's not very, says a new Trulia study. Not only is housing expensive in the Golden State, but the overall cost of living is also high. Trulia's study, which in addition to real estate prices also considered factors such as the cost of commuting and utilities, concluded that the least affordable city in the United States is San Francisco. Conversely, the state of Ohio is full of affordable living options, with Akron weighing in as the most affordable city in the country. Check out the full list, below.

We were curious about how far a buck would go in the least and most affordable cities, so we scoured real estate listings in San Francisco and Akron to compare what a $500,000 budget and $750,000 budget will get you in each. Click through to take a look, and visit Trulia for the full study.
