How to Make a Succulent Hanging Planter

I found this cool retro hanging basket at a garage sale and it was pretty basic — and very rusty. But after giving it a coating of KRYLON Covermaxx metallic spray paint, it turned into a pretty vessel for holding succulents. Instead of tucking plants inside the planter, filling it with the plants facing out creates really interesting outdoor living decor. Here's how to make your own.

  1. Start breaking apart the sedums and lining the basket, gently weaving the plants through the sides of the basket.

  1. Continue working until the outside is finished. Tightly pack the plants together, creating lines of color, or change it up with a variety of sedums.
  2. Now add other plants to the center of the hanging basket. You can go with more succulents or even interesting grasses.
