This Yankee Candle Recall Could Have a Big Effect on You This Christmas

With their pleasant scent and lovely aesthetic, Yankee Candles are the perfect gift, so there's a good chance that you've either purchased one to give someone else or received one as a present this holiday season. But if the candle in your possession is from the Luminous Collection Fragrance Candles collection — they can be easily identified because they're in a rippled glass cube instead of the usual round glass jar — you should bring it back to Yankee Candle immediately.

A voluntary recall has been issued for these candles because the textured "artisan hand blown glass" that surrounds them has been cracking when the candle is lit, the Consumer Product Safety Commission says. There have been 16 instances of the glass vessel breaking so far, and while luckily no one has been injured yet, they pose a high risk of laceration. To keep consumers safe, Yankee Candle encourages consumers to bring any Luminous Collection Fragrance Candles sold between September and November of this year to one of its stores for a full refund.

The some 31,000 candles recalled include the following six scents: Sea Salt & Coral, Blackberry & Sage, Apple Blossom & Melon, Sugarcane & Honey, Pine & Sandalwood, and Cinnamon & Cedar.
