We've already caught a glimpse of the celebrities who hit the red carpet at last night's amfAR Gala in Cannes, and it looks like the action continued inside as well. While Robert Pattinson auctioned off kisses — check out the video — Diane Kruger, Joshua Jackson, and Hayden Panettiere were busy mingling with their famous friends and much more.
Breaking News: Dug From Up, the Palm Dog Winner at Cannes!
Four paws up to the super cute Dug, can you dig it? The animated star of the upcoming Disney-Pixar 3D animated caper captured this year's Palm Dog award at the Cannes Film Festival! The flick, Up, features several hilarious dogs — and a ginormous bird — and I can't wait to see this pooch in action, especially after what my pals BuzzSugar and geeksugar had to say about their sneak peek and interviews with the director and producer.
I guess you can't give an animated dog a treat, but here's an e-bone for you, lil guy!
>> INSIDER WIRE —Peter Dundas has only done one collection, for Fall 2009, in his new post at Emilio Pucci, but so far, so good — his work is already being embraced for the red carpet by fashion insiders. Lily Cole and Carine Roitfeld both wore Pucci at yesterday's amfAR gala — Lily's dress from the Fall 2009 collection, Carine's custom-made — which Dundas also attended, and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld has heels from the Fall 2009 collection already on display in her apartment. Would You Pay For a Kiss From Robert Pattinson?
Robert Pattinson chilled with a lady friend last night after stealing the spotlight at the amfAR bash in Cannes by raising $40,000 for AIDS research — through selling kisses! Two bidders at the party spent about $20,000 each to have their daughters get pecks on the cheek from the Twilight star. We know there are lots of Robert fans around here, so this raises the question — would you pay to be kissed by him?

Check out Diane Kruger riding Chanel's Personal Transporter at the amfAR Gala at Cannes. The eco-friendly, i.e. electric, big wheeler was auctioned off and Diane was the guinea pig. See beau Joshua in the background looking . . . confused? And the Chanel muse herself looking, well, you tell me! Leave your captions in the comments below before 5 p.m. PDT on Tuesday, May 26, to be considered for a spot in the voting poll. Viva Diane!
Valentino Sticks to the Yacht at Cannes
>> Valentino made headlines earlier this week for his reaction to the fashion on the Costume Institute Gala red carpet — he shook his head, muttered "no, no, no," and wiggled his finger, adding: "I think now all the girls look very ugly. I saw the pictures of the Metropolitan gala evening [in New York] last week and I never saw something more ugly, all the girls have their legs out with the most terrible proportions."
He also told the Guardian that he has "so many ideas I could design a collection in two days but don't miss it at all" — now that he's retired he "tr[ies] to have a good time." Although he hasn't made any red carpet appearances, his yacht has been spotted docked in Cannes — wonder what he has to say about all the Cannes fashion?
Or maybe instead of joining the parties in Cannes, his idea of fun now is staying in his yacht and having a meal cooked by partner Giancarlo Giammetti's chef, Pablo — in her GOOP newsletter this week, Gwyneth Paltrow raves over "GG, as he is affectionately known" and his chef's "rustic Italian food to die for . . . that can get me over there on the darkest and rainiest of London nights."
2009 Cannes Film Festival: Natasha Poly
True, Angelina and Diane stole the Cannes red carpet yesterday. But today, I have nothing but adoration for model Natasha Poly in Roberto Cavalli. She also attended the Inglourious Basterds premiere, and look at the model beauty. Strapless gowns are a bit tired, but her stormy black-and-gray gown is a rarity. And her casual '70s 'do makes the dress less fuss. Are you smitten?

amfAR Cinema Against Aids Gala Brings Out Dolce, Gabbana, Natasha Poly, and a Little Bit of Twi-Hard in Carine Roitfeld
>> This evening's amfAR Cinema Against AIDS gala in Cannes promised the appearances of chairs Donatella Versace and Carine Roitfeld, and it more than delivered. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, who are hosting their annual blowout tomorrow night, have officially docked their "mirrored floating disco" yacht, according to T's Stefano Tonchi, and joined in on the fun. Natasha Poly, who needed the help of two women to get into her Cavalli gown yesterday, reappeared in a leopard dress. Claudia Schiffer made her first red carpet appearance of the festival. And Carine Roitfeld made the rounds, stopping to chat with Twilight's Robert Pattinson.
Which amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Attendee Is Most Fab?
The Cannes Film Festival has no shortage of parties, amfAR's Cinema Against AIDS benefit being one of the biggest. This year's star-studded red carpet cast includes Zoe Saldana, Eva Herzigova (in Dolce & Gabbana), Dita von Teese (in Jean Paul Gaultier), Diane Kruger (in Chanel), and Kerry Washington (in Marchesa). As you can see, each pulled out all the stops, but only one can be most Fab.
