Natalie Portman Pursues Love and Other Things in Toronto

Natalie Portman headed to Canada yesterday to join the fun at the Toronto Film Festival.

Natalie Portman headed to Canada yesterday to join the fun at the Toronto Film Festival. She went casual in a white top in the afternoon for a press conference promoting her film Love and Other Impossible Pursuits, which we saw her filming last year back when it was called 17 Photos of Isabel. By evening Natalie was decked out in a pink Lanvin number to join costar Lisa Kudrow for a red carpet premiere. Natalie has been doing double duty promoting this movie and her forthcoming Brothers, and she's picked up a few unlikely fans. Her recent spread in Interview magazine, in which she confessed a love of obscene rap music, has apparently earned her the esteem of Ghostface Killah from the Wu-Tang Clan.

Vanessa, Brittany, and Hunter Have a Slammin' Good Time

Hunter Parrish joined Vanessa Hudgens and Brittany Snow last night for the LA premiere of Bandslam.

Hunter Parrish joined Vanessa Hudgens and Brittany Snow last night for the LA premiere of Bandslam. Vanessa has been out and about promoting the film but avoiding any mention of her latest photo scandal. It didn't seem like there were any hard feelings between her and Hunter after his recent comments about having almost nabbed Zac Efron's role in High School Musical. He set the record straight at the TCAs, and the two kept the good times rolling at the afterparty too.

Sundance Brings Welcome Faces and Exciting New Movies

Some of our favorite rarely-seen famous faces were out at Sundance Film Festival yesterday.

Some of our favorite rarely-seen famous faces were out at Sundance Film Festival yesterday. Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt premiered their anticipated – and completely precious looking — romantic comedy 500 Days of Summer. Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor continued to hit up the parties in support of I Love You Phillip Morris. It wasn't all movie veterans — relative newbie John Krasinski debuted Brief Interviews with Hideous Men at the festival while Kristen Stewart hit a red carpet that wasn't for Twilight — check out all the Sundance news here. With so many celebrities in Park City and DC for the inauguration, LA must be pretty quiet this week.

A Fabby Halloween: Romy and Michele

With my own high school reunion looming over me, I can't help but rejoice in the '97 chick flick Romy and Michele's High School Reunion.

With my own high school reunion looming over me, I can't help but rejoice in the '97 chick flick Romy and Michele's High School Reunion. My night will surely not have me laughing every five minutes (actually, maybe), be filled with candy colored clothes (actually, maybe), and have the ever-hilarious Janeane Garofalo storming through (if only). Romy and Michele are the cutest losers I've ever met — and they love to dress up. Grab your hottest homie and find some blond wigs. From there, opt to be Romy and Michele by day — you just need casual but funky separates. Or, Romy and Michele on the dance floor in metallic Barbie-girl dresses and platform sandals. Lastly, you can be faux Post-It inventors in Robert Palmer babe black. The many lovable personalities of these kooky blondes can all be done on a dime, so what are you waiting for?

Celebrities and Their Babies Over the Weekend 2008-09-08 15:00:20

The celebs were out this weekend — many stood up to cancer while others partied at the Toronto Film Festival and the VMAs. Still, some found time to snuggle with their wee ones.

Sheryl and son Wyatt Crow left LAX after the breast cancer-surviving mama sang a duo with James Taylor on Friday night. Bon Jovi's Power Ranger son Romeo scoped out the streets of NYC, while Keri and River roamed their nearby Brooklyn 'hood. Check out the slideshow to see who else was out and about this weekend. Movie Preview: Kabluey

The quirky indie film Kabluey was completely not on my radar until I happened across the trailer a few days ago.

The quirky indie film Kabluey was completely not on my radar until I happened across the trailer a few days ago. I completely fell in love with the odd and incredibly endearing preview, so I decided to research a little further. Turns out, it's being warmly received by reviewers (well, those who are in cities where it's actually being played, of course).

Lisa Kudrow plays a struggling mother of two whose husband is fighting in Iraq. Her brother-in-law, Salman (Scott Prendergast), soon joins the household to help her out, and ultimately takes "a humiliating job as a giant blue corporate mascot in order to help make ends meet and hold the family together."

Most of the humor seems to come from watching this big, plush-looking, cartoony blue figure juxtaposed with regular humans. It seems dark and funny, with some sadness around the edges. Plus, the rest of the cast includes Christine Taylor, Chris Parnell and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (and if I may channel my grandmother for a moment: hubba hubba!).

The movie opened July 4 in limited release. To check out the trailer, read more

Do You Think a "Friends" Movie Is a Good Idea?

After the success of the Sex and the City movie, we weren't that surprised to hear the rumor resurface that Friends could be the next TV show to hit the big screen.

After the success of the Sex and the City movie, we weren't that surprised to hear the rumor resurface that Friends could be the next TV show to hit the big screen. There's been talk of the project for years, but Jennifer Aniston supposedly hadn't expressed enough interest in doing the film until now. Friends is still one of our favorite shows ever, but do you think it's a good idea to make it a movie?
