O.J. Simpson Behind Bars — Justice For The Juice?

After so many years it's hard to believe that O.J.

After so many years it's hard to believe that O.J. Simpson will serve up to 33 years of jail time not for the crime of murder, but for kidnapping, armed robbery, and conspiracy convictions. Even though this case had nothing to do with them, the Goldman family attended the sentencing hearing yesterday. Ron Goldman's father Fred made an emotional statement afterward, saying that if his family's actions to recover their $33.5 million wrongful-death verdict over the last decade caused O.J. to commit armed robbery, then great!

Fred told press outside the courtroom: "We are thrilled, and it's a bittersweet moment. It was satisfying seeing him in shackles like he belongs."

While both the judge and the Goldmans said the sentence had nothing to do with Simpson's previous actions, we'll never know whether O.J. would have received the same punishment if he never was charged with murder. Do you think that justice has been served?

O.J. Simpson Sentenced to at Least Nine Years O.J. Simpson has been sentenced to at least nine years in prison for a Las Vegas hotel armed robbery by a judge who rejected his apology and said, "It was much more than stupidity." Simpson stood stone-faced Friday when Judge Jackie Glass quickly rattled off his punishment after he pleaded with her that he didn't mean to steal from anybody when he tried to retrieve memorabilia. He appeared ready to break down in tears as he told that he was "sorry and confused" before going into a rambling and emotional five-minute declaration.

After being found guilty of kidnapping and robbery, OJ Simpson is being being held away from other prisoners for his own safety, and is planning a motion for new trial. He's waiting to see if he'll be released on bond pending that appeal, a move considered unlikely due to the seriousness of the crimes he was convicted of. His attorney said Simpson will be alone, is planning not to do media interviews and is allowed to see only family members and a few friends.

Simpson will be held in Clark County Detention Center until his early December sentencing, then it's thought he'll be transferred to state prison. His lawyer says, "He is in isolated custody and being protected from other inmates. The jail is taking very special precautions to make sure he is safe." Surprised at the guilty verdict? Do you think it was payback by the jury? Are you into the OJ saga — or is the juice just not worth the squeeze?
