Ben Affleck took Violet and Seraphina out for a visit to a farmers market in LA on Sunday. Ben and his daughters picked up fruits and vegetables as well as a bouquet of flowers. Ben had a relaxing Sunday with his daughters during a break from a busy award season. Ben has had a successful run so far with his multiple wins for Argo, including best director and best drama at the Golden Globes. Although Ben being snubbed for an Oscar nomination for best director was a big headline, he isn't fretting about it. Ben said in the Globes pressroom, "We got nominated for seven Oscars, including best picture. I was thrilled. If you can't be happy with that, then your prospects for long-term happiness are probably pretty dim." Looking forward, Ben still has several award shows ahead of him, including the SAG Awards on Sunday, Jan. 27.
Jennifer Garner and Violet Have a Mother-Daughter Day in LA
Jennifer Garner and Violet were both beaming as they headed to an LA park together yesterday. Jennifer has returned to her regular routine after spending a glamorous night at the Golden Globes on Sunday. Jennifer was a presenter at the award show and her husband, Ben Affleck, won both best director and best picture for Argo. Ben thanked his wife and kids in his acceptance speech for best director, but became incredibly emotional when talking about Jennifer. He said, "I want to thank my wife. She's the reason I'm standing here. I adore you, I love you so much. Thanks for sitting through this. You're my everything."
The Globes was Ben's last chance to pick up an award for best director since he was passed over for a nomination in that category at the Oscars. However, there are some new rumblings in Hollywood that Ben could win the award as a write-in candidate despite writen-ins technically being banned by the Academy. Write-in wins are rare — only one person, a cinematographer, has ever won with one and that was back in 1935 — so it is unlikely that Ben will take home the honor. Either way, he'll attend the Oscars on Feb. 24, since Argo is nominated for several other awards, including best picture.
Jennifer Garner Goes on Mom Duty Ahead of Ben's Oscar Snub
Jennifer Garner had a full afternoon with her kids in LA yesterday when she ran errands with Seraphina and took Violet to a park. Jennifer was first spotted out and about with Seraphina in Pacific Palisades wearing blue sweats as she headed into a building with her youngest daughter, who wore her hood backwards as they left the area. Later, the actress changed into a white sweater and jeans to take Violet to a local park. Jennifer and her girls were having a relaxing day together before the Oscar nominations announcement this morning. Ben Affleck's Argo was nominated for best picture, though Ben didn't pick up a best director nod for his work on the film.
The hectic award season has just begun for the Garner-Afflecks as Ben has the Critics' Choice Awards tonight and the Golden Globes on Sunday. Be sure to watch us LIVE on the red carpet for the Critics' Choice Awards starting at 6 p.m. EST/ 3 p.m. PST right here on PopSugar.
How Ben and Jennifer Celebrated Seraphina's Fourth Birthday
It was an extraspecial weekend for the Garner-Affleck family. After Jen and Ben went ice-skating with Seraphina and Violet on Friday, Jennifer took the girls to see a production of Anything Goes Saturday. Yesterday, though, was the main event. It was Seraphina Affleck's fourth birthday, and the occasion was marked with a party at Kidville USA. Seraphina was dressed up in a pink princess outfit and had bright orange cake. Ben's brother, Casey Affleck, and his little ones were also on hand for the celebrations. The fun continued when the family headed to Disneyland, where Ben and Jen showed love while Violet and Seraphina watched a parade.
Along with Sera's big day, the family has much more to celebrate with a big award season ahead for Ben. He got an early start on winning over the weekend. Ben attended the Palm Springs International Film Festival and he, along with his Argo cast, nabbed the ensemble performance award. The excitement will continue this week, as Argo is nominated for multiple awards at Sunday's Golden Globes.
Ben and Jennifer Treat Violet and Seraphina to a Day of Ice Skating
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner took their daughters, Violet and Seraphina, out for an afternoon of ice skating in LA today. The family was all smiles as they made their way to the rink, and the girls showed off their skills on the ice. Ben planted a sweet kiss on Violet while she took a break to eat a hot dog and also shared some cute moments with Seraphina, even letting her try on his sunglasses.
The trip may be an early celebration for Seraphina's fourth birthday, which is on Sunday, but it's not the only milestone for the Affleck-Garners. Good Will Hunting commemorated its 15th anniversary this week, and Ben and his costars, including Matt Damon, sat down with Boston magazine to look back on the movie that made them A-list stars. The recognition will continue with award season right around the corner since Ben's Argo is nominated multiple times at the Golden Globes and SAGs.

They went their separate ways before coming back together to celebrate the holiday yesterday. It was baby Samuel's first Christmas. (Was he the most exciting celebrity baby arrival of 2012?) The new addition helped Jennifer land the title of Today's Parent magazine's celebrity mother of the year. The Garner-Afflecks also picked up the honor of being named your favorite famous family in our end-of-the-year poll, beating out the Beckhams and the Jolie-Pitts.

Ben Affleck held hands with daughters Violet and Seraphina after doing some shopping at Williams-Sonoma in LA on Saturday. Ben is closing out a landmark 2012, which saw him earning more critical acclaim than ever as a director for Argo. Some fans are so impressed with his work both on screen and with his work in DC that they're cheering for him to take on a real role in politics. Ben deflected questions about running for senate if John Kerry becomes secretary of state, but he wouldn't be the first actor to take on a public office. For now, though, he's focused on spending the holidays with his family at home in California. It will be Samuel Affleck's first Christmas, and it's sure to be an adorable one for your favorite celebrity family of 2012.
Ben and Jen Have Some Family Fun on a Rainy Day With Violet and Sera
Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck had a busy afternoon on Sunday with their daughters, Violet and Serpahina. The famous family didn't let the chilly weather stop them from making their regular coffee stop in Brentwood, doing a little furniture shopping, and taking a trip to Whole Foods Market. Proud parents of three Ben and Jen gave each other a few sweet glances during their outing and kept the smiles coming as Ben gave Violet a lift and Jen held hands with her and Sera.
It's been a great year for the Garner-Affleck family, and last week's announcement of award nominations continued their hot streak. Ben earned a SAG nod, and shortly following that news, the director learned he'll also be going up against Steven Spielberg, Kathryn Bigelow, and Quentin Tarantino in the best director category at the Golden Globes.
Violet Affleck Turns 7 With Style, Stuffed Animals, & Famous Friends
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner threw Violet a party to celebrate her seventh birthday on Saturday in LA. Violet brought her friends for her Build-a-Bear bash, and she was the center of attention in all pink. Among the guests were Jennifer Meyer and her daughter Ruby Maguire. The Meyer-Maguire and Garner-Affleck families also spent Halloween together at an event where both Violet and Ruby were dressed up as Dorothy. Jennifer has been in New Orleans filming The Dallas Buyers Club, though she made the trip back home to be there for her oldest daughter's birthday. Ben is also focused on his three kids — Seraphina, Violet, and baby Samuel — in between the honors that just keep rolling in. Ben was named one of Entertainment Weekly's entertainers of the year, and we'll be seeing just how many accolades Argo will earn when award season nominations kick off soon.
