DIY Your Something Blue With These 3 Easy Ideas

If you're on the lookout for something blue to wear on your wedding day, why not DIY it? I recently attended the Something Blue wedding event, and as the name suggests, there was a whole lot of inspiration for this big-day tradition. In fact, there was a design challenge at the event that required participants to create budget-friendly something-blue DIY kits using materials from The Makery in Los Altos, CA (although you can re-create them using supplies from any craft store). I'm sharing three of these DIY projects now, but stay tuned for the winning kit from Katie Rebecca Events! Source: Lauren Mizrahi and Tara Block

1. Shoe Clips

Lauren Mizrahi of the blog live.happy.inspired created these cute and easy shoes clips for her something-blue kit. Lauren explains the process:

"I created these shoe clips because I thought it would be fun to have an accessory that could be used in a variety of ways. I used lace and seersucker to fold these fabric flowers. You can attach them to the front or back of your shoes, put them on your sash, or clip them in your hair. I also imagine the bride creating these for her bridesmaids in different colors."

2. Sentimental Bouquet Charm

Darah Gabrielle of Pacific Avenue Blog created a bouquet charm with a personal touch that she's actually using in her own impending nuptials. Darah tells us:

"I was inspired to do this something blue in memory of my fiancé's dad. I wanted to incorporate his memory into the wedding. So I created a frame of his picture that can be attached to my bridal bouquet. I think he would have liked it."

3. Vintage-Inspired Garter

3. Vintage-Inspired Garter

Monica Cruz-Hernandez of the blog Living in Vogue went sexy with her something blue with a lacy garter. Monica dishes on the DIY:

"When I think of something blue, I love the idea of it being a pop of color for the bride and in a surprise spot. Thus when creating my DIY kit, I thought it would be simple and sweet to incorporate a dash of blue in a handmade garter. A garter is such a personal item that making a one-of-a-kind piece makes it even more special. I also suggest adding some bling with a vintage brooch."
