Watch the Moment This Groom Realizes His Engagement Shoot Is Actually His Wedding

As we saw in 2015, there has been a lot more importance placed on the engagement photo shoot — be it quirky, profound, or stripped down and au naturel. Since so much thoughtful planning surrounds the tradition, one groom thought to convert the shoot into the actual wedding — creating the most life-changing surprise as a result.

Christian and Shayne are a couple living and studying in Honolulu. Christian is entering the Air Force ROTC program at the University of Hawaii this Fall, and Shayne is a Marines veteran who now studies at Hawaii Pacific University. While the two were having their very laid-back photo shoot in a beautiful Hawaiian setting, Christian turned to Shayne and said, "This isn't the shoot. This is the real thing. Today's the day. Are you willing to marry me . . . today?" Cue all of the tears.

After Shayne shed some tears and — of course — agreed, the two were whisked away to the Kahala Hotel Resort, where they were surprised by their respective families and proceeded to have an emotional seaside ceremony. Though Christian came up with the same-day wedding surprise, he was in the dark about the actual wedding details, making the day that much more special for the both of them.
