Anne Hathaway's Makeshift Shorts Will Make Us All Appreciate Our Postpartum Bodies

For some reason, the minute a celebrity has a baby, there's an expectation that the next time she shows up on a red carpet or in a supermarket paparazzi shot, she'll be rocking a trim, svelte postbaby body. Anne Hathaway, however, took to Instagram yesterday to shatter that frustrating illusion. The actress, who welcomed a baby boy in April, is in absolutely no rush to get back into pre-baby shape, and she used an image of makeshift denim shorts she DIY'd from a pair of old jeans to illustrate her empowering message:

There is no shame in gaining weight during pregnancy (or ever).

There is no shame if it takes longer than you think it will to lose the weight (if you want to lose it at all).

There is no shame in finally breaking down and making your own jean shorts because last summer's are just too dang short for this summer's thighs.

Bodies change. Bodies grow. Bodies shrink. It's all love (don't let anyone tell you otherwise).

Finally, a Hollywood perspective to which we can all actually relate. Well done, Anne. Rock those shorts!
