A Dad Was Forced to Pay $88 to Sit Next to His 4-Year-Old on a Flight

Getting your little ones to the airport can be an adventure in itself, but throw in seating arrangements, and the trip becomes a lot more complicated. For one father, Frank Strong, his flight with his 4-year-old daughter turned into a major parenting dilemma when he was seated 11 rows away from her. The two were traveling from Raleigh, NC, to Montgomery, AL, and when Frank couldn't find two seats together online, he hoped he would find seats once he got to the airport.

This, however, was not the case. He said that he approached the ticketing counter after failing to find seats at the kiosk: "The gate agents exchanged knowing glances — they obviously had seen this before — and suggested I go to the gate. They said maybe they could fix the problem for me for free, otherwise I could pay $88 to get our seats together right away."

Frank ended up paying for the seats but took to his blog to address this incident. "No parent holds a higher responsibility — or more deeply visceral instinct — than keeping their child or children safe," he said. "That's hard to accomplish 11 rows away when the fasten seat belt sign is glowing." Read on to see Frank's tweets, and then let us know what you think of this situation.

Dear @Delta Why do you think it's okay to put a toddler and parent in separate seats? We've been through this before. #CSR #customer
