Girl Chops Off Locks "So Another Little Girl Can Have Hair Too"

During a season that emphasizes good deeds, one girl proves you are never too young to give. Earlier this week, without hesitation or prompting, 3-year-old Ariana decided to donate her long locks to charity. Always refusing to cut her hair, the little girl changed her mind after learning that some kids lose their hair due to diseases.

"I do a charity called Extra Life where I play video games to help raise money for kids," Ariana's father, Josh Smith, tells ABC. "Ariana happened to be sitting on my lap when a video played showing a little girl who was bald, lying in a hospital bed with tubes in her." When his daughter asked why the girl in the game was bald, Smith explained that sometimes medicine makes kids lose their hair. That's when Ariana declared that those kids could have some of her hair. Smith and his wife, Crystal, looked into hair-based charities and settled on Locks of Love. A week later, they took Ariana to get her philanthropic first haircut. The Smiths couldn't be prouder of their little girl and the lesson that takes some people years to learn.

"She is a typical little kid, but if she sees somebody in need, she certainly nurtures them," Smith says. "This made Ariana feel special, and she'd definitely like to do it again."
