This 5-Year-Old Girl Makes a Strong Case For Police Cats

When 5-year-old Eliza Adamson-Hopper had a suggestion for her local police precinct, she did what any upstanding citizen would do: she wrote a letter. Her adorable note to the UK's Durham Police Chief Constable Mike Barton has since been shared by British reporter Tom Wilkinson and has warmed the hearts of animal-lovers everywhere. In it, Eliza asks the Police Chief to consider the use of police cats.

"A police cat would be good as they have good ears and can listen out for danger," she wrote. "Cats are good at finding their way home and could show policeman the way." Adding, "My dog is friends with my cat and I think a police cat would be friends with your police dogs."

Then something amazing happened: Police Chief Mike Barton answered!

In his response — shown in the tweet below — he expressed his approval of Eliza's idea. He said, "I am going to ask my inspector who is in charge of police dogs to think about your good idea." He then drew his own cat, Joey, on the back of the letter — making the whole thing, quite possibly, the cutest exchange ever.
