A Bestselling Author Just Posted a Picture of Herself in a Bathing Suit For a Very Good Reason

"I showed you mine . . . " Now you show me yours! That's the bathing suit photo challenge The New York Times bestselling author and mom of two Jennifer Weiner issued to women everywhere this Fourth of July weekend after overhearing a group of girls discussing swimsuits and hearing one say, "I don't want to wear a tankini; my tummy is too big."

A mom to two teenage girls, Weiner posted a photo of herself in a black swimsuit with pink and white ruffles on Instagram and wrote about all of the fun women are missing out on during the Summer because they're afraid to be seen wearing one. "I know we are inching — slowly! — toward the idea that you don't have to be a size zero, or a teenager, to look good/be allowed on the beach," she wrote. "We all need to be the change we want to see in the world," she added.

Weiner then went live on Facebook to issue her challenge — share pictures of yourself in your swimsuit playing with your kids or just being happy. "I want this to be a smorgasbord of positivity!" she told her followers. And that's when moms started sharing their inspiring stories — and their photos.

"For my soon to be born daughter. As a person who was teased for her size and weight as a child I want to teach my daughter that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. What really matters is being active and healthy and the person you are," wrote one woman, who shared a a pregnant photo of herself in a swimsuit.

"Three kids later 😬. Not where I want to be. But teaching my 9 year old daughter all about embracing your body. Frizzy curly hair and all 😂. Summer hair = Fuzzy hair," wrote another.

More than 200 people have posted comments and photos so far — and the weekend's just begun. What a fun and positive way to kick off one of the biggest beach weekends of the Summer. We can't wait to see how many more women contribute to the cause!
