UPDATE: Judge Who Sent Kids to Juvenile Center For Refusing to Eat Lunch With Dad Lifts Ruling

Update: On Friday, the Judge Gorcyca lifted her ruling, releasing the kids from the juvenile center and allowing them to attend Summer camp. The kids' father, who lives in Israel, says he will seek custody of the children, setting the parents up for a custody battle down the line.

Divorce involving children can get messy, and for one family in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, it has turned into a courtroom nightmare. According to Fox 2, Maya Tsimhoni's three children — ages 14, 10, and 9 — are being held in a juvenile detention facility by a judge's orders. The reason? The children refused to go to lunch with their father.

Judge Lisa Gorcyca had ordered the kids to maintain a healthy relationship with their dad through a rough five-year divorce, but when the kids didn't comply, she had all three kids sent to Children's Village's Juvenile Hall — until they turn 18 years old. The judge even compared the kids to "Charles Manson and his cult" for avoiding their father. Tsimhoni's son, at one point, tried to explain to the judge why they don't want to see their dad, saying, "Because he is violent and I saw him hit my mom." But it didn't sway the judge at all.

Tsimhoni said, "No matter how bad the divorce gets, I think the court should not punish the kids for that." She is now fighting to get her children back from Children's Village, where they've been for two weeks — separated from each other and barred from visits from their mother.
