A Connecticut Mother Left Her Infant in the Car While Working Out at the Local Gym

With all of the news about the dangers of leaving children in hot cars, you'd think the only way it would happen would be by accident. But that doesn't appear to be the case with a mother in Stamford, CT. According to police there, Hiroko Kurihara left her 4-month-old infant in the car not once, but twice yesterday while she worked out at a local gym in the morning and running errands in the afternoon.

Police were notified after a local day care worker heard the baby crying in the car in a parking garage in the middle of the day. As police and firefighters attempted to break into the car, Kurihara returned. She told police that she had left the child in the car for about an hour earlier that morning.

Kurihara was arrested on the spot and charged with two counts of risk of injury to a minor and two counts of unattended child left in a car. She's being held on $10,000 bond, and the baby was placed with the father.
