What This Off-Duty Cop Did For a Pregnant Woman in Just 4 Minutes Will Amaze You

Instead of driving home from work, like he had originally planned, Sergeant Sean Boag ended up delivering a baby girl on the side of the road — just four minutes after he pulled over.

The off-duty New Jersey State Police sergeant was headed home on the Garden State Parkway when he heard on his radio that a woman was going into labor on the side of the highway.

According to a statement released by the New Jersey State Police, the couple was on their way to the hospital when the baby decided that she wasn't going to wait any longer, and they called 911 for help.

Boag happened to be the closest to where the couple stopped and knew that he could get to them within minutes. However, by the time he arrived, the baby was already crowning, and just four minutes later, Boag delivered the healthy baby girl.

"I told her to push," Boag said. "A couple more pushes, we were able to pull the baby all the way out, and once I cleaned her mouth, I got the mother and wrapped her up in a blanket and placed [the baby] on the mother's chest and that was it. We waited for first aid to arrive."

The officer has children of his own, but he said that this was his first time actually delivering a baby himself. The father of three credits his thorough state police training for preparing him for what to do in this emergency situation. "Sergeant Boag was commended for his quick response and decisive actions, which helped keep everyone safe," the statement added.
