The Awesome Thing This Police Officer Did Instead of Giving a Dad a Ticket

Seeing a police officer in uniform buying a car seat in Walmart may not seem like anything special at first glance. But to LaVonte Dell, a father with a young daughter, this act taught him to never judge a book by its cover. Officer Joshua Scaglione of the Westland Police Department and Dell originally met when Scaglione pulled the father over for tinted windows, but once the officer spotted Dell's young daughter in the back of the vehicle without a car seat, the dynamic of the situation changed.

Rather than issue a ticket for the windows, Officer Scaglione asked Dell to follow him to the local Walmart where he purchased a car seat for Dell's daughter, and when Dell told him, "I've never met an officer like you," Scaglione simply responded, "I'm just doing my job. What good would giving you a ticket do besides put you further in the hole, making it harder for you to come up?"
