Swelling, or edema, is a very common discomfort of pregnancy. As per study of about 75% of women experiences this excessive accumulation of fluid around the legs and ankles at some point during pregnancy. But I recommend that every woman should consult her doctor/midwife before starting any physical activities, swimming sometimes can be successful in reducing the swelling. Being in the water makes pregnant women feel lighter and buoyant. It very important to elevate the feets whenever possible, preferably while lying on a side. Lying on the left side is better for circulation. one can do to help reduce swelling, but the most pleasurable is massage. Massage increases circulation, reduces swelling, and helps to lower the incidence of calf cramps. In general, regular massage treatments throughout pregnancy is recommended, mostly by ladies. Massage can help with the side effects of slowed circulation as well as counter low back discomfort and can also be emotionally soothing.
