This Elementary School Has a New Dismissal Policy That Bans Parents From Walking Home With Their Kids

Your child's school isn't the first place you think you would be charged with trespassing. But Bear Branch Elementary School in Magnolia, TX, has a new pick-up policy that can put parents in criminal trouble if they try to walk their child off of school premises.

Principal Holly Ray is enforcing a new dismissal policy where no matter how near or far from the school a student resides, they must take the bus or be picked up by car at dismissal. Parents who fail to follow these rules can be cited if caught on school property.

Although it sounds hard to fathom, a few parents have already been issued warnings for violating the dismissal rule. Some describe it as a bullying tactic by Ray and an example of the school district overstepping their boundaries. But according to FOX 26, the school district's intent is to create a more streamlined dismissal process with the policy.
