- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans
- 4 bacon slices, cooked and crumbled
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup 2% reduced-fat milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg

Every year, Williams-Sonoma holds a competition among their corporate employees for the best Thanksgiving side dishes. This recipe is adapted from Rachel Thur’s winning recipe. I loved it so much that I served it at Thanksgiving the following week and everyone asked for the recipe. It must be something about the contrast smooth sweet potatoes, salty bacon, and crunchy pecans mixed with the perfect amount of brown sugar.
