You Won't Believe Where This 3-Year-Old and His Power Wheels Truck Were Found

Every parent knows that leaving a toddler alone (even for a second) is the first step in a recipe for disaster — it's always then that they decide to introduce the permanent markers to the walls or unscrew the lid on the peanut butter to "paint" their younger sibling. However, for one dad in Crystal River, FL, leaving his toddler alone for two minutes while he used the bathroom ended in more than a misguided art project, and it could have been deadly.

Last Wednesday, a diaper-clad 3-year-old slipped out of his house and was found cruising up the median of Highway 19 — one of the state's busiest highways — in his Power Wheels car. Drivers spotted the toddler, and two stopped their cars to approach the boy. Danny Collins, one of the witnesses, took pictures of the encounter. "I was shocked," he told WFLA. "That's why I took the pictures. I was like, 'nobody's going to believe.'"

If not for the good samaritans who stopped, this little guy's situation could have ended in absolute tragedy. The boy's father was tracked down but had no comment, and the Florida Department of Children and Families is investigating the incident.
