"Scars Tell Stories:" See Why This Woman's Post About Pregnancy Loss Is Going Viral

Take a look at the woman in the photo above. Her name is Genevieve V Georget, and at initial glance, she looks like a happy, healthy woman, right? That's what the barista at Starbucks thought when Genevieve picked up her coffee en route to the airport for a trip to Italy six years ago. And that's the image Genevieve was trying to project. So much so that the barista sent her off with good travel wishes, "why wouldn't you…your life is golden," she said. According to Genevieve, the Italy trip wasn't one of celebration, but one to take a break from life after enduring a miscarriage and suffering posttraumatic stress disorder. But as she says, you can't tell someone that when you only see them for five minutes each day. She spent the "entirety of that flight wondering; about our sense of authenticity…our collective vulnerability…our polished identity. And it made me feel like a total fraud. Because I'm not any of those things that this girl sees on the other side of her coffee bar."

Her post has inspired women everywhere to share their stories of insecurity and talk about coming out from behind them. As Genevieve writes:

"Scars tell stories. Scars mean survival. Scars mean you showed up for the fight instead of running from it.

And we've all got them…even the sweet girl serving my coffee. She's fighting her own battle…defending her own front line…struggling in her own way."
