You Can Still Plan a Special Day

Just because you are not throwing a Pinterest-worthy bash for your child doesn't mean your birthday boy or girl won't have a special and memorable day. A family trip to the zoo, a picnic in the park, or even a trip to visit Grandma can create meaningful memories to last a lifetime.

My son's favorite birthday party wasn't a party at all. We invited three of his best friends over. I took the boys to the park and we flew kites. This wore them out and made the evening peaceful. We made pizzas and sundaes. I rented movies, and video games. I put a video game system in the living room and in my son's bedroom. No fighting over whose turn it was to play. Remember there were only four boys (including my son). They had a ball.
Lights out was about 12:30PM. I actually got a decent night's sleep too. We all pitched in and made breakfast. It was fun.
No leftover cake. Not too much mess. Not really much money either. My son is thirty years old now but he still remembers his "un-birthday"
