Kim Kardashian Just Trolled the Wall Street Journal and Made a Powerful Political Statement

Kim Kardashian, who is of Armenian descent, just took a powerful stand against Armenian Genocide deniers. In response to a full-page Wall Street Journal ad that was paid for by a group that denies the Armenian Genocide, Kardashian ran an ad of her own in The New York Times.

Her letter slammed the Wall Street Journal for publishing the original ad back in April, writing, "Money talks and right now it's talking crap." She added, "It's one thing when a crappy tabloid profits from a made-up scandal, but for a trusted publication like WSJ to profit from genocide – it's shameful and unacceptable."

Kardashian also made the point that WSJ's ad was essentially "spreading lies" and she challenged the publication by asking, "If this had been an ad denying the Holocaust, or pushing some 9/11 conspiracy theory, would it have made it to print?"

Politicians including President Barack Obama have failed to describe the Armenian Genocide as a genocide likely because it might disrupt relations with Turkey. In response, the Pope has encouraged world leaders to recognize the massacre orchestrated by the Ottoman Empire that killed roughly 1.5 million people from 1915 to 1916.

This isn't the first time Kardashian has used her celebrity platform to bring awareness to the issue; in 2015 she wrote an open letter in Time magazine insisting that the genocide will never be forgotten.
