The 1 Reason Paul Ryan Is Voting For Donald Trump

After criticizing Donald Trump's idea to ban all foreign Muslims' entry to the US, Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan has had an interesting change of heart. On June 2, the Republican Speaker of the House officially endorsed the GOP nominee.

Back in December, Ryan strongly stated that he took issue with Trump's policies. Ryan specifically said that Trump's proposal to ban an entire religious group contradicted the Republican party's values. "This is not conservatism," Ryan said. "What was proposed yesterday is not what this party stands for, and more importantly, it's not what this country stands for."

In his recent piece on GazetteXtra, however, Ryan explained that he is now prepared to back the presumptive nominee for one simple reason: Trump will sign laws passed by a Republican-controlled Congress, while a Democratic president would likely veto them. Ryan wrote: "The concept from the start was simple: If we had a Republican president ready to sign bills into law, what would we do?"

Putting his party's legislative agenda at the forefront, Ryan is willing to set aside his other differences with Trump. Ryan strongly believes that Trump could be key to making the House's proposals a reality — something he doesn't believe would be possible with Hillary Clinton. "A Clinton White House would mean four more years of liberal cronyism and a government more out for itself than the people it serves," Ryan added. "Quite simply, she represents all that our agenda aims to fix."
