A Member of the Bush Family Will Speak at a Planned Parenthood Fundraiser

Barbara Pierce Bush, the elder fraternal twin daughter of President George W. Bush, will be the keynote speaker at a Planned Parenthood fundraiser in Texas next week. Although her father is a Republican and publicly anti-abortion, Barbara revealed she does not identify with the GOP in a 2010 People magazine interview. "I don't really label myself as Republican or Democrat," Barbara said. Her sister, Jenna Bush Hager, went on to say, "We're both very independent thinkers."

As co-founder and president of Global Health Corps, a nonprofit organization which is "focused on health equity," Barbara's company also partners with several Planned Parenthood branches. In a 2016 interview with The New York Times, Barbara praised Planned Parenthood as an "exceptional organization." Her mother, former First Lady Laura Bush, has also gone on the record to voice her support for legal abortions. The Planned Parenthood fundraiser is set to take place in North Texas on March 1.
