Beth Stern Says Hosting the Kitten Bowl Is the Greatest Job in the World

The third annual Kitten Bowl is finally (almost) here! On Super Bowl Sunday, a pack of the cutest kittens ever will take to the field on Hallmark Channel to battle it out for the ultimate title of Kitten Bowl Champion. We caught up with Beth Stern, who is the host of this adorable event, to find out more about what to expect Sunday.

The kittens all come from North Shore Animal League and Last Hope Animal Rescue, both in New York, she told us. Both organizations go around to municipal shelters and gather available kittens and cats to bring back for the Kitten Bowl.

"They were saved from death row to become stars of the Kitten Bowl and be adopted, which encourages other people to adopt, and it's just a beautiful thing that Hallmark does to bring awareness to all these animals in need of homes," she said.

This year Hallmark even brought in some adult cats to participate as coaches and spectators, and Beth was happy to share that all the cats and kittens — over 100 — have already been adopted out to forever homes.

But what exactly can we expect during Sunday's big game? Beth said they threw in something a little bit different this year: puppies! She said everyone in attendance wasn't quite sure what to expect when they first brought the puppies and kittens together, but it worked out better than they could have imagined. "They just, like, rolled over and were licking each other. It was adorable."

We basically think this sounds like the best job ever, and Beth was quick to agree.

"I show up on set when all the kittens are placed, and I get to go on the field, and all of a sudden there are kittens crawling all over me. It's pretty great," she said.

The Kitten Bowl is airing this Sunday on Hallmark Channel at 12 p.m. EST and will continue to re-air throughout the day. Scroll through to meet all of the kittens participating!
