It's finally almost Summer, which means it's finally almost vacation season! For those families planning a beach vacation any time soon — and bringing your pup along — we have some safety tips from American Kennel Club to ensure that everyone stays out of danger so you can have the maximum amount of fun.
- Bring fresh water with you, because the ocean water is definitely not safe for dogs. The excess amount of salt can make them ill, so bring along bottled water and a bowl to put it in so your pup can drink as he pleases.
- Make sure you have a shady place for your dog to relax and get out of the sun, in case he gets too warm.
- Bring sunscreen! Believe it or not, your dog can actually get a sunburn, so make sure to bring along a dog-safe sunscreen for him.
- Give your dog a good rinse at the end of your beach day. You definitely don't want him carrying around any extra salt water from the ocean because it can irritate his skin.
