Jenny Cho wanted to create a playful updo to go with Dianna's sleek Marchesa gown, so she gave the actress's hair lots of texture using Suave Professionals Moroccan Infusion Weightless Dry Shampoo ($3). Cho finished off the style with three elastic headbands crisscrossed near the hairline.

To prep Dianna's lids for this dramatic smoky eye look, Georgie Eisdell applied Kiehl's Super Multi-Correcting Eye Opening Serum ($48). Then Eisdell layered on Chanel Illusion D'Ombre ($36) shadow in Fantasme (a frosty silver) and Diapason (a deep plum).

The Style Crowd Makes This the Most Fashionable Night at the Museum
The Style Crowd Makes This the Most Fashionable Night at the Museum

Full disclosure — there are some red carpet events that seem a little less thrilling than others. But then there are the parties we'd die to be at — whether it's for the killer fashion choices, the talked-up performances, or the fun mix of stars in attendance. Last night's American Museum of Natural History Gala definitely falls into the latter category.

Not only was Tina Fey the host of the evening's annual benefit, which supports the museum's programs in education and science, but Bruno Mars performed and dinner was served up by none other than Mario Batali. And fashion's elite and funny faces alike stepped out to celebrate. So, of course, you can only expect that the glamorous dresses were not to be glossed over.

Dianna Agron channeled her inner boho princess while Cameron Diaz worked an eye-catching Chalayan design, and Naomi Campbell slipped on a Tom Ford mosaic-tile number you have to see in full. But they weren't the only stars we were happy to find mingling. Get an inside look at the party ahead — you won't believe who showed up.

Forget the Red Carpet — This Is How the Stars Get Dressed Up During the Day
Forget the Red Carpet — This Is How the Stars Get Dressed Up During the Day

Picture this — a beautiful day in the courtyard at the Chateau Marmont in LA complete with a fashion show and some very stylish stars sitting in the front row. That was the relaxed, carefree setting at the CFDA and Vogue Fashion Fund event yesterday, where the 10 designer finalists debuted their collections.

Diane von Furstenberg opened the event with a heartfelt tribute to Oscar de la Renta, and her cohost, Reese Witherspoon, looked gorgeous in a bright floral dress by the late designer. But Reese wasn't the only one who enjoyed the day in a very stylish ensemble. From Miranda Kerr in a chic embellished suit to Camila Alves and January Jones in demure neutrals, it was nice to see how the stars dressed for the daytime.

And because Cassandra Grey hosted a dinner party the night before, we also got a dose of nighttime glamour, thanks to appearances from Kim Kardashian, Jaime King, and Dianna Agron. On that note, keep reading to see the day-to-night outfits our favorite stars put on when they stepped out in the name of fashion.

Dianna's look is a bit more event-ready but can be dressed down by nixing the sleek pumps for a pair of high-tops. When we say an edgy moto jacket like hers can go over anything, we mean it — yes, even a navy shift dress. Finish the look with a couple of layered necklaces to accent the hardware on your coat.

The No-Fear Guide to Pulling Off Black and Blue
The No-Fear Guide to Pulling Off Black and Blue

If you're scared to wear black and blue all at once, we don't blame you. After all, the color pairing isn't exactly a classic. The shades can either come together flawlessly — see Reese Witherspoon, Dianna Agron, and Kate Mara, above — or your entire ensemble can look like one big mess. We've been there. But mixing such dark, neutral hues is too alluring not to try — you just have to come at it in a meticulous way. And when you've got these style stars as the inspiration for three casual, yet totally sophisticated looks, there's no turning away — black and blue are calling your name. Trust us, it's funny how confident you'll feel once you've conquered this little styling fear. Scroll down to get started.
