Canadian reggae band Magic! said it perfectly in their 2014 hit song — why you gotta be so rude? While this question is easy to ask, finding an answer is nearly impossible. But what truly makes us decide that someone is rude in the first place? Whether gifted this title by strangers, family, or close friends, winning the trophy for "most rude" is not something anyone should proudly display. We have rounded up a list of some of the strongest telltale actions that correlate with "rudeness." While we may all know someone who is guilty — including ourselves — of these incriminating traits, it is never too late to make a change. Check out the list below but preferably not if you're at the dinner table or midconversation.

Things that rude people do:

  1. They text at the dinner table.
  2. They take up two parking spots.
  3. They never hold the door open for others.
  4. They listen to music too loudly on public transportation.
  5. They curse loudly in public.
  6. They never say "thank you" or "please."
  7. They choose not to silence their phones during a movie.
  8. They text or talk on the phone while ordering in a restaurant or, even worse, when someone else is talking to them.
  9. They often chew gum (or food) loudly.
  10. They smoke in the middle of busy sidewalks.
  11. They litter.
  12. They refuse to pick up their dog's poop.
  13. They tailgate while driving.
  14. They don't cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze.
  15. They stand you up.
  16. They double-dip their chips at a party.
