If you're looking for something to toast the New Year with but aren't a drinker, I've got your solution — this festive ginger pineapple punch. It's sparkly and bubbly like champagne, but you won't end up with a dreaded hangover the next day. It's also not overly sweet, and the ginger gives it such a nice kick, you won't miss the booze.

If you've already been to a holiday party this season, you may have come face to face with eggnog, a cookie plate, or lots of fried latkes. It can be hard to resist these delicious treats, especially since the holidays are a time of enjoyment and celebration. While I always try to practice moderation during this decadent time of year, my usually fit friend gives herself a break over the holidays and indulges as much as she wants to — how about you?

Shoppers, listen up! The pumpkins are barely ripe for carving and already the mega stores are having price slashing wars. Target and Wal-Mart have made the 2009 holiday toy budget a tad more realistic as they have marked loads of games and dolls down to half-price.

Next Monday, Sept. 7, professionals everywhere will take advantage of Labor Day to play hooky, travel, and, of course, eat. Although the holiday originated out of labor disputes, the first Monday in September has become synonymous with many things — not the least of which is a national celebration of food.
