You gotta see this to believe that there's a man behind this voice— not a young man, but a grown man. Little Ariel must be thrilled to have this biped take her song and run with it. He's impressive, but I wonder how his talent fares with the ladies.

They say that naughty visuals are hidden in many of the Disney films, but I have yet to find them. I can't say the same for this version of The Little Mermaid, in which Ariel openly sings of her dirrty wants, fantasies and STDs. Whoever rewrote this song has poor Walt Disney rolling over in his grave.

Your second favorite Oscar couple, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, brought their four older kids to see The Little Mermaid on Broadway in NYC last night. Pax brought his drink to go after the show as he held onto dad's hand. Little blondie Shiloh hitched a ride in Brad's arms.

Katie Holmes isn't making her Broadway debut until September, but little Suri isn't about to wait. The girls headed to the theater last night to catch a showing of The Little Mermaid, which I'm thinking is a slightly different experience than sitting through Arthur Miller's All My Sons anyway. Once again Suri had on her fancy gold shoes, but this time it was Katie whose glammed up look was quite the exception to the casual baggy jeans we've gotten so used to recently.

It's hard to believe there was a time when Disney animation was in a major slump, but it's true. In the years between 1984 and 1994, the studio had picked itself back up after creating mediocre animated films, eventually getting back in the game with classics like The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. Such is the subject of the documentary Waking Sleeping Beauty, which shows how a dedicated young group of animators returned the Disney name to its former glory.

Nothing's been set in stone yet, but rumors are flying that Tim Burton is in talks to make a live action movie about Maleficent, aka Sleeping Beauty's villainess. The movie would tell the story we all know and love, but from the evil fairy's point of view.
Turning a fairy tale on its head isn't a new idea by any means, but it's always fun to envision a more developed backstory for some of history's most vile (and seemingly one-dimensional) bad guys.

Pre-baby, a hip lady may know all of the songs playing on the Top 40 countdown. When she enters motherhood, she may start humming a different tune. She may find herself singing "Elmo's World" while in line at the grocery store or bouncing around to "I Like to Move It, Move It" as she finishes up household chores. Cruising moms will find the old classic "The Wheels on the Bus" hard to remove from her memory.
