5 Glorious Gadgets For Booze-Lovers

Out of all the gadgets we saw at this year's Consumer Electronics Show, the ones for booze-lovers might be our favorites. They're making it easier for beer, wine, and cocktail connoisseurs to re-create their favorite drinks at home, and that's a beautiful thing, isn't it? Not all of these devices are cheap or worth the price, but they're definitely worth knowing about.

Bartesian

If you want your friends to think you're an A+ bartender without putting in much effort, consider getting Bartesian. The company calls itself the "world's first single-serve cocktail machine for home use" and here's how it works: first you choose the alcohol (vodka, tequila, rum, or gin) from one of four chambers and then insert a cocktail capsule (which includes bitters, liqueurs, and natural juices). Choose your drink strength, press a button, and voila! The machine will pour out drinks like margaritas and martinis. Pre-order Bartesian now for $299 and expect to get it in October.

Brewie

Brewie

Meet Brewie: an automated home brewing machine. You'll receive a package that contains everything you need to make the beer — malts, hops, etc. — that you place it into the machine. Measure the water and then scan a card reader that contains a recipe of your choice. The machine will recognize the recipe and automatically brew and ferment (takes seven to 21 days) after you press a button. It makes about five gallons of beer, but it's definitely not cheap: you can pre-order it now for $1,799.

D-Vine

D-Vine

You don't have to open an entire bottle to enjoy the perfect glass of wine thanks to D-Vine. First up, you insert a tube filled with wine into the machine and D-Vine will read an embedded chip to decipher what type of wine it is. Then, it will decant it perfectly, cooling it to the perfect temperature, and pour it out for you in a glass. Wine lovers in the US will have to wait a little longer for it, since it's currently only available in France, Belgium, and the UK for $599 — but the good news is D-Vine hopes to expand here at the end of this year.

Fizzics

Can we take a second to acknowledge the name of this gadget? OK, great. Fizzics promises the perfect pour every single time for all store-bought beer — canned or bottled. It says it uses "high-frequency sound waves and oscillation" for a pour that enhances different types of flavors. You can even control various features, like your favorite levels of foam. First funded on Indiegogo, you can now buy it at Brookstone for $170.
