Facebook's New Feature Will Make Breaking Up So Much Easier

Everyone knows the worst part about breaking up might be the social media aftereffect. You see an ex's stories on your news feed, their smiling faces in tagged photos, and a bunch of memories you want to so badly escape. Well, your breakup is about to get a little easier with Facebook's new features to see less of your ex.

The tools, available on mobile, will let people decide how much they want to encounter their ex on Facebook (if at all). Once and only if you change your relationship status will you see these features. Here's what will happen: A first option will appear to not see anything your ex posts in your news feed or get suggestions to tag them in a photo.

After that, you can also keep your ex out of your business by limiting what they can see about you. This means they won't be able to see any photos, videos, status updates, or anything you post. The only posts they will be able to find are items you've put on a mutual friend's wall or if you post something publicly.

The last feature is deciding what memories of your life together on Facebook other people can see. You can mark certain posts private or untag yourself.

These new features should definitely help, considering the only options before included unfriending, blocking, or unfollowing your ex. While "unfollowing" certainly helps, it doesn't stop your ex from showing up casually in your news feed if a mutual friend tags them in a photo.

So, whether you want to see nothing about your ex on Facebook or make sure you don't end up stalking them, this should help. No judgment if you want to play Taylor Swift's "Blank Space" while you're doing it.
