The Incredible Photo That Won the World Press Award

The winner of the World Press Photo Award for 2014 was announced today, and it's made waves across the Internet — not just because it's a beautiful image, but because of what it represents.

"The picture is by Danish photographer Mads Nissen and shows Jon and Alex, a gay couple, during an intimate moment in St Petersburg, Russia," wrote World Press Photo before mentioning the prejudice many LGBT people face in Russia.

Thankfully, it's images like these that make the public aware of such circumstances and help to change them for the better.
