No-makeup makeup is exactly what it sounds like — beauty products that make it look like you aren't wearing anything on your face. When it comes to skin, the best no-makeup makeup foundations will cover up blemishes and redness, while still giving you that natural glow.
That's a tall order for a complexion product, but I've managed to find four that work well with my combination skin, which often experiences redness and has acne scars. Read on to learn more about the best no-makeup makeup foundations.
In this photo, I am wearing no complexion makeup (not even concealer). With the following four foundations, I am able to get a glowing, no-makeup makeup look while also still covering up areas of redness and uneven tone.
The Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint ($26) is my everyday go-to for glowing skin that looks completely natural. It does exactly what its name says by blurring out my redness and acne scars. It feels completely weightless on my skin, and leaves it with a dewy — never greasy — finish.
With just a thin layer of the buildable Rodan and Fields Radiant Defense Perfecting Liquid SPF 30 ($66), I'm able to even out my skin tone. It goes on sheer, and has a dewy finish. The best part — it protects my skin from the sun's rays with an SPF of 30.
The Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation ($39) has the most matte finish of the foundations that I tried, but still has a slight shine. It gave my skin the appearance that there was no makeup on it, and that I just naturally have flawless skin. Once it sets, the medium-coverage foundation looks and feels just like skin.
The NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation ($49) is a favorite of mine, as well as many of my fellow beauty editors. The foundation itself dispenses from its pump as a thick liquid then sweeps across skin to blur any blemishes and redness. Despite it being full coverage, this foundation still looks completely natural — and feels like skin once it sets. It also never transfers, even on your sweatiest of days.
