Before Mara Hoffman's Fall 2015 New York Fashion Week show, the designer sent lead Zoya manicurist Alicia Torello a still from Star Wars. The iconic film influenced Hoffman's bohemian, '70s-style collection. So in order to keep the Star Wars theme going from tips to toes, Torello dreamed up this earthy-chic nail art look to mimic the beautiful sunset scenes from the film. It perfectly complemented the messy multibraid look and gray and gold smoky eyes.

Since music festival season is right around the corner, we got this exclusive DIY from Torello so that you can re-create the look at home now!

Step 1

After applying a base coat, add two coats of Zoya nail polish in Ziv ($9), a metallic gold color, and let it dry.

Step 2

Take a pink polish, like Zoya's Brittany ($9), to create the sun. Swipe in an upward motion from one side to the other. You can steady your hands by placing them on a table to minimize movement.

Step 3

Take a light nude color, such as Zoya nail polish in Taylor ($9), to make a small squiggle in the middle of the sun on the right side of your nail. Paint slightly at an upward angle, using the brush from the bottle or a striping tool.

Step 4

Next, you need a deep rouge pink, such as Zoya nail polish in Brigitte ($9). Begin on the left side of the nail, and swipe the color about the same height as the lighter color from the last step. Make small waves down across the nail, ending at the edge of the tan color.

Step 5

Take your last color, a dusty purple like Zoya nail polish in Normani ($9). Start slightly lower than the pinkish color, and swipe in waves across the bottom. Finish with a topcoat.

All 5 Steps

"You can clean around the nails with an angled makeup brush and some acetone," says Torello. "The beauty about this manicure is all the nails can look different, and they don’t need to be perfect. It’s really easy to achieve at home."
