It's an exciting time for the Palin family. On Saturday, Bristol Palin announced her engagement to Dakota Meyer, a former US Marine and Medal of Honor recipient. The couple shared their joyous news with a series of adorable Instagrams. "Truly the luckiest girl in the world, cannot wait to marry this man!!!!" Bristol captioned a photo of the pair kissing. She followed it up with a close-up of her stunning ring, expressing her excitement with heart emoticons in the caption. Dakota shared a photo of his own, writing, "I'm definitely the luckiest guy ever to be able to spend the rest of my life with @bsmp2 #shesaidyes." The proposal shouldn't come as a complete surprise to the couple's Instagram followers; they've posted several cute photos with her family, including her mom, former Alaska Governor and Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
This will be Bristol's first time walking down the aisle, although she was formerly engaged to high school sweetheart Levi Johnston. Bristol and Levi rose to fame during the 2008 election, during which Bristol was pregnant with their son, Tripp Johnston. In 2010, Levi grabbed headlines when he posed for Playgirl. Dakota showed his love for Bristol's mom with this smiley Instagram on her birthday in February, writing, "I just want to wish Sarah Palin a happy birthday. Thank you for being the amazing person that you are. I appreciate your leadership and dedication to our country!Have a great day!"
