Selena Gomez Reveals She Voted For the First Time This Year: "Your Voice Matters"

Selena Gomez has been using her platform to get out the vote, and on Oct. 24, the 28-year-old singer used her Voting Power Hour appearance to galvanize fans to make their voices heard in the upcoming presidential election. "I'm super invested in this right now," Selena began. "It's been good. I feel hopeful."

"We're going to get through this together."

In addition to speaking with several fans and showing viewers how to use Outvote (an app that helps users get involved with campaigns and important causes), Selena revealed that she already voted, as we saw on Instagram, and it turns out, it was actually her first time doing so. "Honestly, I'm not ashamed to say this, but I kind of — this was my first time. And I'm going to say that because I never felt . . . like my vote counts," Selena said. "I just think some people get in their head, like, 'Oh well, what does it matter?' And then once I really, really started going in and diving into this, it's been all I can focus on."

Selena ended the discussion by stressing the importance of voting and reminding young people to use their voice. "Your voice matters completely, and I'm so anxious, but it's so encouraging to see all of you guys just doing it," she added. "We're going to get through this together."
