This just in: the official trailer for HBO Max's Gossip Girl reboot is finally here, and it's 2 minutes and 10 seconds of pure drama. Of course, we wouldn't expect anything less from the Upper East Siders. As we get acquainted with the next generation of Manhattan's elite — portrayed by Jordan Alexander, Eli Brown, Thomas Doherty, Whitney Peak, Emily Alyn Lind, and Evan Mock, among others — it becomes abundantly clear that everything we thought we knew about Gossip Girl and her loyal followers will be flipped on its head in this new iteration. The fashion and music? Iconic. The love triangles? Even more intense. The new Queen Bee? Absolutely ruthless and fierce. Being a fan of the original Gossip Girl, I naturally had a lot of thoughts and feelings as I processed everything — 50 to be exact. Go through this journey with me as we patiently wait for the series to hit HBO Max next month.
Imagine if we get a Euphoria and Gossip Girl crossover!
It seems like these Upper East Siders might also be activists. Side note: can we talk about how much Eli Brown looks like Dan Humphrey? I can't unsee it.
Please give us BFF goals without the toxicity of Serena and Blair's relationship.
Jordan Alexander (who plays Julien) is a singer, so it's entirely possible.
You know, the bar where Nate and Serena hooked up in the pilot episode . . .
This scene is giving me major thriller vibes. Is Gossip Girl gonna flip the script and make the show a murder mystery?
This scene reminds me of episode "The Ex-Files" where Serena turns the whole school against Dan. Who are they giving this look to? Obie or Zoya?
"We own this school" is peek "You can go now." Queen Bee energy, for sure.
Really hoping this reboot gives the Queen Bee's minions more of a storyline.
Not only do the boys sit on the steps of the Met now, but someone is sitting at a higher level than the Queen Bee, which was a big no-no in the original. Remember Jonathan's unfortunate yogurt "accident" when he didn't follow the rules? This group is shaking things up!
The removal of this silk headband is so symbolic. We are clearly in a whole new era, folks!
Blair Waldorf, aka the queen of GIFs, would be proud.
Does one of the characters live in the same building??
Look at the zebra-print chairs! That has to be Chuck Bass's hotel, right?!
An ad about Gossip Girl? Graffiti? Are they spying on someone?
The Dan Humphrey and Joe Goldberg connections aren't lost on me.
That definitely looks like DUMBO! I wonder if we'll get more iconic shots of the Humphrey loft.
I'm living for these little Easter eggs.
Blair Waldorf would never!
Very interested to see how this works! *Zooms in on this screenshot*
Love this little Gossip Girl and You connection given all the initial comparisons. Also, spot the Playbill in the background! Is Broadway the new ballet of the reboot?
This is also your casual reminder that HBO Max created Instagram accounts for the characters!
Please give us more details about the ensemble cast, HBO Max!
Given the piano and the fact that he's in a scene with Julien, is he playing her dad? Perhaps Rufus 2.0? Maybe he's the one who owns all those Grammys from earlier in the trailer.
There are already so many rumors and theories going around, and she barely makes an appearance in the trailer. I'm so intrigued.
I guess she's playing Audrey's mom? Interested to see how this group of parents compare to the original Gossip Girl parents, specifically if they can bring the same amount of drama to the show.
The original Gossip Girl had some iconic guest appearances from artists like Lady Gaga and Florence + the Machine, so the reboot definitely has big shoes to fill.
The dress, the runway, it all screams Serena van der Woodsen! Is the Gossip Girl reboot giving us Queen Bee and It girl all wrapped in one? You know I love it!
