The "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" Soundtrack Is a Rollicking Rock and Roll Hero's Journey

Everett Collection

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" finds the Guardians on a mission to protect Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) and their universe from a terrifying threat. It's a high-stakes, action-packed adventure — and it has a rock and roll soundtrack to match. Listening to its array of vintage epics like Bruce Springsteen's "Badlands" and more modern, energizing pop-rock tracks like Florence + The Machine's "Dog Days Are Over," it's not hard to imagine any of these songs soundtracking epic battle sequences and various characters' emotional arcs.

Written and directed by James Gunn, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" has a huge cast that includes Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star Lord, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, and Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot. Zoe Saldaña will also return as Gamora, and Maria Bakalova will return as Cosmo the Spacedog. Meanwhile, Will Poulter is making his debut as science experiment-turned-hero Adam Warlock.

Whether you're looking to get hyped ahead of seeing the film or just want to relive some of the tunes that accompanied its most entertaining sequences, listen to the soundtrack ahead.
